SUNDAY, DEC. 4th, 2:00 pm
Yarmouth Performing Arts Center (YPAC)
On Sunday, December 4th, the Yarmouth Music Boosters will sponsor a concert by the Portland Jazz Orchestra.  "PJO" is Maine's premiere big band boasting 18 musicians, all music professionals and/or music educators.
Led by artistic director, Dr. Chris Oberholtzer, PJO has been together for over a decade, bringing the best in jazz music to the greater Portland area.
On Sunday, Dec. 4th, they will bring their annual "Swingin' Holiday Show" featuring traditional holiday music set in a jazz style to Yarmouth high school's performing arts center. Many "favorites" of the holidays will be played, by this great big band.  PJO will welcome a guest vocalist for this special concert.
Along with classic holiday music, PJO will be playing a few selections from the jazz version of The Nutcracker.   Duke Ellington took Tchaikovsky's music and wrote 9 pieces inspired/based upon the well known classical ballet.  PJO will play a miniature suite from this work, playing three of the best known pieces from the ballet, done in classic Ellington style.
